Description

Description

ELIE’s main aim is to care for the captive elephant population in Cambodia and support the community that work with them. We run a number of programs such as forest conservation, a land title project, vet and research programs, community health care and school support project all based around the goal to support the elephants, owners and the forest that they need to live. The Elephant Valley Project (EVP) was launched as an elephant sanctuary developed to create a home for injured and old elephants and is now ELIE’s centrepiece for elephant conservation. ELIE is unique in terms of its primary source of funding now comes from income from donations made by local and international visitors to EVP. Since 2006 the NGO has evolved and grown, with the development of EVP as a tourist attraction, providing a sustainable financing mechanism for funding all ELIE programs.

The ecotourism project is therefore our biggest project and we are now seeking to employ a new Project Manager for the Elephant Valley Project This is a very exciting role and one that has developed greatly over time. The main responsibilities will include supporting and managing the volunteer program, monitoring the care programs for the elephants onsite including weekly health checks, supervising and supporting 30+ staff, coordinate weekly finances including income and expenses, general operations management of the project including transport, materials, daily food budgets etc and helping with monthly reports. You will work very closely with the Program Manager and other onsite staff like the guides and volunteer coordinator.

The position will be based primarily at the EVP, working Sun evening to Friday, with occasional Saturdays required in the office. Food will be provided when working and accommodation when required to stay onsite. A local management salary is provided.
