Overview

The Project Manager for the Southern African region must be passionate about sustainability and will promote the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) programme across a broad range of interest groups including fisheries, supply chain stakeholders, government representatives and partners in the NGO community.  

You will be a confident, people-centred professional who can grasp complex and intellectually challenging ideas and clearly communicate them to people from diverse backgrounds and cultures to ensure the MSC’s growth within the Southern Africa region.

You must have a combination of education and experience that demonstrates a good working knowledge of sustainable development, especially as it relates to fisheries and the food sector. You have a successful record of project planning and management and excellent personal organisation skills which demonstrate high productivity and an ability to manage competing work priorities.

You hold a post graduate degree or equivalent in fisheries/marine conservation or biology/fisheries, natural resources/environmental management.

You will have at least three years experience in the fishery or seafood sector in Southern Africa, with experience of working with stakeholders and other external partners and a high competence in managing internal relationships.

You are fluent in English and speak at least one other language which is spoken in the fishing sector in the region. You demonstrate excellence in both languages in written communication and preparing and delivering presentations. Although not essential, being able to speak Portuguese, French or Spanish will be an advantage.
