Project Manager, South Sudan Protected Areas Capacity Building Project

Key Responsibilities

This is a full-time position based in South Sudan responsible for managing WCS's implementation of the GEF/UNDP funded project for Protected Area Network
management and building capacity in South Sudan in cooperation with the Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism of the Government of South Sudan.  
The project undertakes a range of activities to build capacity for protected area management, improve management of key protected areas, and develop and
enhance sustainable financing of protected areas. Duties include provision of technical support to the Ministry’s wildlife and protected areas staff for implementation
of project activities at central and site levels, coordination of activities and production of project outputs, coordinating the work of project staff and consultants, and
preparation of work plans and progress reports. The position will be based out of the WCS South Sudan Country Program office in Juba (approximately 50% time)
with significant field work at Southern National Park (50% time).  The Project Manager works closely with and reports to the WCS South Sudan Program Director. 

Qualifications

The desired qualifications for this position are a PhD or Master's degree in conservation, natural resource management, or related field, at least 5 years of experience
working on conservation and protected areas management issues in Africa in collaboration with Government agencies, proven ability to work well in a team in 
multi-cultural situations and under difficult field conditions.  Fluency in written and spoken English required.
