Southface Energy Institute, a nonprofit environmental organization that promotes sustainable homes, workplaces and communities through education, research, advocacy and technical assistance seeks an Project Manager for Meetings and Events.  A desire to make a difference and passion for the environment are a plus. Job Overview:
The Project Manager for Meetings and Events will be responsible for all aspects of planning meetings, the annual conference, fundraisers and special events for Southface Energy Institute. The Project Manager for Meetings and Events will work as part of a team to create highly organized functions and events at the Southface campus and off-site locations.  The Project Manager for Meetings and Events will be responsible for all amenities and accommodations at the event as well as associated contract negotiations.

The perfect candidate will have two to fours years of experience in the field or in a related area; will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; will be able to perform a variety of tasks and will have a high degree of creativity. The Project Manager for Meetings and Events will report to Director of Development and Communication and will be a member of the Communications Team.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and Qualifications include but are not limited to:

Conceptualization, organization and execution of special events with attention to organization’s needs and budgets.
Ability to prepare budgets and event timelines and provide detailed analysis per event.  Requires a strong logistical/operational background.
Evaluating events and maintaining clear records of the planning process.  Do follow-up surveys, document and recommend future improvements.
Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.
Outstanding teamwork orientation, both within the Communications Team and when partnering with other teams. 
Strong attention to detail; ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
Menu planning and food ordering or working with caterers on meals for classes, training sessions, member events and special events.
Set up and break down of events.  Requires morning, evening and weekend work.
Customer service focus necessary.  Ability to communicate and work simultaneously with all types of people.

Capacity to assume leadership roles, work independently and to take initiative.

 
Physical Requirements:
Occasional off-site meetings and events necessary
Ability to perform set-up and breakdown – requires moderate lifting and cleaning.

Hours of Work

Monday through Friday; 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, some flexible options possible, including Saturdays, depending on event schedules.  Some weekend and evening hours are necessary.

  
Salary Range:

$32,000 to $36,000, dependent upon experience.
