Description

Project Manager, Finland

Project Manager, Finland

Introduction

MSC operates a global fisheries certification and ecolabelling programme. We celebrate, promote and add value to sustainable fisheries and through the leadership of our partners, create market incentives to encourage other fisheries to improve the way they fish the oceans. Over 300 fisheries around the world, landing 12 % of the annual global harvest, are now engaged at some stage of the MSC’s independent assessment process. MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 100 countries.

Information on the role

The MSC opened an Office for the Baltic Sea Region in Stockholm with the generous support from the Baltic Sea 2020 Foundation focusing on Sweden and Denmark. The MSC concept is now well-established in these countries. The MSC Baltic Sea Regional Programme is now seeking to further engage with stakeholders in other countries surrounding the Baltic Sea to establish the MSC programme. The MSC acknowledges the need for a local approach and is therefore recruiting a Finish speaking Project Manager (PM) to engage with Finish stakeholders.

Reporting to the Baltic Sea Region Manager, the Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for the delivery of the MSC’s overarching aims and objectives in Finland. This entails high level outreach to fisheries and commercial stakeholders, as well as government representatives and partners in the eNGO community. Outreach involves presentations, workshops, press conferences, relationship building and promoting the MSC concept and certification programme to potential partners. Ultimately, the PM will strive to increase the awareness about the MSC ecolabel and its credibility both with institutions and among Finish consumers, as well as to seek purchasing opportunities of MSC-certified and labelled products for consumers in Finland. The PM will therefore also be expected to build Media and PR relations to build consumer awareness of the MSC.

The candidate should have substantial relevant working experience and skill set. The ideal candidate will also have at least one of the following:

  • Experience in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders at various levels.
  • Experience in working with fisheries and the seafood supply chain is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated excellence in preparing and delivering presentations, as well as networking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently. Must be self-motivated.
  • Excellent project management, work prioritisation, personal organization and time management skills.
  • Desirable language skills- English, Finnish and Swedish

The post holder will need to be strategic, able to grasp complex and challenging ideas and communicate them to people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
