We are seeking an experienced project manager to manage two of Otago’s significant and exciting conservation projects. This is a sole charge position and a great job for somebody who really wants to make a difference and restore Otago’s natural environment.

You will work within our Conservation & Volunteers team and closely with our Dunedin Branch to manage the Otago Coast Seabird Restoration Project which aims to re-establish a range of seabirds along the Otago Coast. You will also manage the Tautuku Ecological Restoration Project focussing on pest control and species translocation.

You will be expected to develop project strategies and plans, engage with key stakeholders and have the skills to implement these plans. You will also procure funding for the projects and provide project advice and guidance to our staff and branch management committee.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • A high level of personal motivation, able to initiate and complete tasks independently, in a timely manner
  • A background in conservation, ecology or science
  • A proven track record of successful project management
  • Capacity and experience to generate public relations materials
  • Positive upbeat interpersonal skills to engage and work with volunteers and staff.
  • The ability to make use of opportunities to engage the wider membership of Dunedin Branch F&B
  • The ability to publicise the projects to the wider Dunedin and Otago communities in appropriate ways
  • The ability to investigate options for external funding sources to pay for any project infrastructure, and undertake the appropriate funding application documentation
  • Computer and email competency
  • Own vehicle
