Project Manager, Boma-Jonglei-Equatoria Landscape Protected Areas
Key Responsibilities
This is a full-time field based position responsible for managing and providing expert support to WCS's protected area management and conservation activities in cooperation with the Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism in the Boma-Jonglei-Equatoria Landscape of South Sudan. Duties include training and management of field teams in wildlife law enforcement and protected area management and operations, park infrastructure development, community partnership development, and representation in meetings with local communities and national authorities, training and mentoring of personnel, communications and development of collaboration with local partners, and ensuring sound project implementation and basic financial administration. The position will be based in the field, with travel to other sites in the landscape on occasions. The Project Manager reports to the WCS South Sudan Program Director.
Qualifications
The desired qualifications for this position are a Master's degree in conservation, protected area management, natural resource management, or related field, at least 5 years of experience working on protected area management , wildlife law enforcement, and conservation issues in Africa, proven ability to work well in a team in multi-cultural situations and under difficult field conditions. Fluency in written and spoken English required. Bush pilot qualifications and experience beneficial.
