This position is a key member of the project steering committee and the driving force among a geographically disbursed project team focused on implementing a virtual laboratory for climate change and biodiversity research. The virtual laboratory will serve as research infrastructure in support of investigations into climate change problems that affect biodiversity in Australia.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain a project plan and effectively deliver the plan within agreed time frames, quality, scope and budget.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Steering Committee.
  •  Manage major stakeholders, researchers and sponsors involvement in the project, ensuring appropriate change management and communication planning and involvement.
  • Consult with identified groups and individuals in the research and user community to obtain data and tools required and where necessary obtain signed memorandums of understanding or agreements on the use of such tools and data to deliver project outcomes.
  •  Lead and manage the small-medium sized team of project professionals.
  •  Conduct workshops and present to groups where required.
  •  Implement the virtual laboratory that will support the activities of biodiversity researcher community nationally.

Required experience:

  • You will be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills focussing on delivering positive outcomes as determined by a Project Steering Committee. In this hands-on role you must be highly organized and a committed team player, managing expectations and be able to meet tight deadlines managing with geographically disbursed team. You will use your experience and project management expertise to develop sustainable solutions to deliver the project outcomes.
