Salary Range:

$71, 110 to $79, 215

Summary of Function:

Establish partnerships, develop projects and lead project teams as part of the Energy mandate of TRCA's Sustainable Technologies Evaluation Program.  Provide oversight of energy audits and assessments of TRCA facilities and Partners in Project Green business partners.  Form strategic partnerships as needed to fund, implement and communicate the projects to wider audiences. Maintain strong knowledge of sustainable energy and/or green building technologies.  Provide strong operational, organizational, communication and client service skills.  Co-ordinate events and prepare reports and communications materials.  Create and sustain a network of professional experts for collaborative efforts. 

Knowledge:

  •  4 year university degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering, building sciences, sustainable energy or related discipline;
  • 4 years experience managing projects, evaluating green energy technologies, and co-ordinating events;
  • Strong knowledge of conventional, alternative and renewable energy technologies (particularly mechanical systems), data analysis, field monitoring procedures, and QA/QC concepts;
  • Management skills needed to keep on budget, communicate effectively and maintain commitments to outcomes.
  • Track record of successful implementation of projects and events and leadership in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent customer, stakeholder or client relationship management skills.
  • Budgetary and financial stewardship skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills, collaborative and facilitation skills.
  • Computer literate and familiar with project management reporting or software systems.

Example of Tasks:

Perform the following tasks under general supervision.

1. Manage sustainable energy and green building projects, including creating a project plan and developing work plans, overseeing project implementation, analyzing and reporting on study results, and communicating project outcomes to stakeholders.

2. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of renewable energy, energy efficient technologies, and green building technologies, with an emphasis on mechanical systems.

3. Oversee the completion of energy audits and implementation of business plans for all TRCA facilities

4. Provide review and support to technical staff in their completion of energy assessments for TRCA business partners.

5. Establish working teams with internal and external organizations and develop project budgets, milestone reporting and stakeholder needs assessments.

6. Lead the project team, identify issues, resolve problems and implement projects successfully.

7. Develop and maintain effective partnerships, client relations and communications with government agencies, municipalities, community groups, consultants, businesses, external agencies, the general public and Authority business units.

8. Represent the Authority on inter-agency working groups and committees and in outreach activities with manufacturers and private agencies.

9. Conduct project post assessments, staff evaluations and project deliverable tracking and report back to senior management teams.

10. Prepare funding proposals and pursue non-traditional funding sources to assist in achieving Authority objectives.

11. Conduct update meetings including public consultation or other engagement of communications vehicles/venues.

12. Prepare project reports, presentations and communications materials, and co-ordinate outreach activities.

13. Provide direction on web site development and the creation of on-line tools for stakeholder engagement.

14. Provide workshops and training to external groups or agencies and advise on any Authority sustainable energy technology installation or procurements.

 15. Seek the appropriate technical expertise when needed and negotiate the support of key resources.

16. Create Board reports and follow other TRCA approval processes and accounting procedures.

17. Other duties as assigned.
