Position Title: Project Manager – Pacific Islands GreenhouseGas Abatement through Renewable EnergyProject (PM-PIGGAREP)

Applications are invited for the above position with SPREP in Apia, Samoa.The Project Manager (PM) PIGGAREP is responsible to the Programme Manager – Pacific Futures through the ClimateChange Adviser to lead the Mitigation aspects of the climate change programme. This will be through managing theimplementation of the PIGGAREP, promoting low carbon developments and strengthening the capacity of SPREPin CDM, and GHG inventory and Monitoring.Key functions include:1. Overall management of the PIGGAREP2. Provide advice to member countries on low carbon developments, CDM and GHG Inventory and Monitoring3. Build the capacity of SPREP in GHG Mitigation4. Communications and reportingEssential Selection Criteria include:1. Advanced degree (at least M.Sc. or equivalent) in engineering, energy, environmental management or other fieldrelevant to the project;2. At least 10 years work experience in, and knowledge of, climate change and energy related issues and activities inthe Pacific island region or in other small island developing states;3. Proven strategic, coordination, analytical, communication and facilitation skills;4. Proven project and programme management experience, preferably with GEF and UNDP funded projects or similarregional/multi-country projects in small island developing countries, including budget preparation and financialmanagement;5. Proven knowledge of climate change and energy issues, conventions, agreements and policies particularly thoserelevant to the PICs;6. Proven ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary and/or multi-cultural team;7. Ability to meet project deadlines;8.
