The Oregon Institute of Technology seeks a Project Manager for a position in its Oregon Renewable Energy Center. This position is full-time with benefits, begins July 1, 2011 and runs through March 31, 2012.

The Christmas Valley Feasibility Study Project Manager leads the OIT effort to conduct a study for the Oregon Department of Energy assessing the feasibility of establishing a renewable energy facility at the former US Air Force Backscatter Radar Site in Christmas Valley, Oregon. To accomplish this, the Project Manager, with the assistance of OIT faculty and staff, and subcontractors as necessary, will gather background information, contact relevant organizations and individuals, and prepare reports that:

  • Access the feasibility of and resources necessary to establish a research and development facility at the OTH-B radar site in Christmas Valley, focusing on renewable energy storage, load matching, emergency response and preparedness backup technologies.
  • Assess the feasibility of deploying renewable energy technologies at the site, specifically
  • a) geothermal technologies for power production

    b) concentrating solar thermal technologies for power production, space heating and/or absorption cycle space cooling

    c) biomass combustion devices for power production, space heating, or absorption cycle cooling.

  • Identify and assess issues relating to the development of the site that must be addressed prior to issuing RFPs for development, including setting restrictions, permitting, contract and procurement considerations, and financial incentives such as grants, tax credits, production payments, special financing, etc. that my facilitate development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical science or related field
  • Proven ability to write technical reports and/or feasibility studies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in technical or management consulting and/or project management.
  • Two years of demonstrated knowledge and experience with energy storage
  • Research, design or installation experience with Renewable Energy technologies such as solar, wind, and geothermal
