The Project Manager is responsible for managing the implementation of the Commonwealth Solar programs at MassCEC, including Solarize Massachusetts. The Project Manager will develop program solicitations, coordinate and participate in review of program applications, review project documentation and coordinate grant payments, develop communication tools to foster collaborative working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and evaluate and report on program activities. The Project Manager will report to the Program Director of the Commonwealth Solar programs in MassCEC’s Renewable Energy Generation division.

 

Job Duties

  • Participate on teams for the design, implementation, and evaluation of incentive programs, associated solicitations and applications, including:
    • The management of the review process of applications and contract negotiations
    • The ongoing management of contracts with awardees during the project implementation phases
    • The collection and evaluation of project and program metrics
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Work with project participants and stakeholders (including community representatives, government officials, business and industry partners, and environmental and consumer advocates) to foster collaborative working relationships which increase the likelihood of project or initiative success
  • Work with MassCEC management/staff and external project participants to identify, catalog and evaluate program metrics.
  • Represent the MassCEC with community and business representatives and other constituent groups to foster project effectiveness
  • Meet regularly with external project staff to review project progress, reporting any problems or concerns and proposed remedies
  • In concert with a Project Administrator:
    • Oversee the review and approval of grantee invoices based upon project deliverables and timeframes
    • Update staff and supervisors on status of projects
    • Prepare periodic reports on project activities according to established protocol
  • Monitor projects to completion; prepare final project reports according to established protocol
  • Perform additional tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Renewable Energy Generation Division Senior Director or his/her designee 
 
Position Qualifications
 
Education
 
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in public policy, environment studies, engineering, architecture, economics, or other relevant field; advanced degree preferred
 
Experience
  • Three to five years experience in relevant positions of increasing responsibility
  • Demonstrated project management experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent project management, problem-resolution and negotiation skills
  • Excellent quantitative, research and analytical skills
  • Excellent PC skills and ability to use related business applications e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, databases, E-mail and Internet
  • Demonstrated understanding of renewable energy generation systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Demnstrated ability to write and edit documents
