Forum for the Future is looking to appoint up to three project interns in our Bristol Office for the period January to April 2012. Successful applicants will assist with development and delivery of one of three ongoing projects:
- West of England Carbon Challenge – helping 100 businesses collectively cut their carbon emissions (www.westofenglandcarbonchallenge.com)
- Bristol Pound – helping promote and launch the UK’s first city-scale local currency in 2012 (www.bristolpound.org)
- Bristol’s BIG Green Week 2012 – helping organise a national nine day festival of inspiring talks and cultural events (www.biggreenweek.com)
Person Specifications:
- Evidence of strong project management experience, relationship management, and communication skills are essential for all three roles
- For the Carbon Challenge role knowledge of carbon footprinting and environmental management in organisations is desirable
- For the Bristol Pound role knowledge of retail practices would be an advantage, and enthusiasm for social media and marketing is also desirable
- For the Green Week role experience of event or conference organisation would be an advantage, and/or marketing and social media experience is also desirable.
General Skills:
- A commitment to the values and mission of Forum for the Future is essential
- An understanding of sustainable development is desirable
- Experience of independent research is desirable
- Project management skills are desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Well organised, able to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Able to follow instructions, be self-motivating and work independently
- Able to work in a team environment
- Good ICT skills are essential. Experience of spreadsheets or desk top publishing would be an advantage.

Internships are based in our Bristol office. Lunch expenses up to the value of £5 and travel expenses from within the Bristol city-region will be covered.

These internships are for a period of four months, full- or part-time. Expected start date is Monday 4th January 2012. Working hours to be negotiated.
