As Design Manager you will ensure that economic and safe designs are developed and delivered on time for our clients in order to minimise risks and maximise profits.You will coordinate the design team in Solihull and Pune and other offices as required on a project basis in order to provide designs. You will report directly to the Technical Director and duties/responsibilities of the role will include;

• Produce designs which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be procured, installed and commissioned effectively. The term ‘cost’ is to embrace all costs associated with the design and the subsequent construction of the design. To be cost effective the whole out turn cost of the design solution must be considered including design time costs, material costs, erection costs and any impact that the design solution might have on other disciplines.
• Ensure that standard practices are utilised where ever possible.
• Ensure that safety is incorporated into the design (CDM).
• Ensure that designs meet the company’s technical and quality standards.
• Ensure the efficient management and co-ordination of designs.
• Ensure optimum use of Intelligent P&IDs and auto generated schedules
• Ensure optimal balance of 3D modelling and 2D GA generation.
• Ensure that designs are carried out within budget and within programme.
• Ensure that the Project Manager and our customer’s receive the service required.
• Develop detail design programmes integrated with the main project to ensure timely completion of the project and efficient use of resources.
• Develop design scope and work breakdown structures for contract deliverables
• Develop detailed design cost breakdowns
• Ensure that financial reports are completed in a timely manner.
• Maintain good Client relationships at all levels.
• Ensure that design team members receive sufficient training and development.
• Ensure Company quality assurance and quality control procedures and processes are implemented
• Ensure that safety is incorporated into the design (CDM).
• Ensure that the latest H&S regulations and legislation are provided for within the Estimate
• Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking/conferences/associations/groups, to stay current on industry changes and innovations.
• Maintain a positive and solution oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
• Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role
• In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of the department and my client as well as maintaining mutually constructive, positive and beneficial relationships.
• Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality
• At least 5 years site experience (ideally within a waste and energy design environment).
• Design and construction experience sufficient to influence the design and buildability of a project, choice of materials and be able to contribute to optioneering
• Experience in risk management techniques
• Knowledge of the processes, equipment and services that are used within the waste and power industries?
• BSc (or equivalent) in Engineering
• Chartered status
