Description

The World Resources Institute (WRI) is seeking a Project Coordinator for its Equity, Poverty, and Environment (EPE) Objective. Through policy analysis, outreach and capacity-building, EPE aims to reduce poverty and promote sound environmental management by ensuring equitable access to and fair distributions of environment goods and services. EPE is housed in WRI’s Institutions and Governance Program (IGP), which works with partners in civil society and government to improve the policies, procedures and performance of institutions with authority over matters that affect local livelihoods and the environment.



Responsibilities:

The Project Coordinator will report directly to the EPE objective leader and EPE staff.  The role of the Project Coordinator is primarily to manage the financial aspects of our environmental projects, including budgets, contracts, financial reports, and other duties as required by Project Staff. Important EPE projects are based in francophone Africa, and will require liaising with our partners in the region.

 

Budget Management Responsibilities: (approximately 50% of the work for this position)

  • Develop annual project and subproject budgets according to WRI and donor guidelines.
  • Manage annual and subproject budgets on monthly and quarterly basis keeping track of all expenses and cash flow.  This requires working closely with WRI Accounting Team and project staff.
  • Prepare proposal budgets, working closely with WRI Grants Development Team.
  • Prepare expense reports and timesheets for Lead Project Manager.

 

Contractual Responsibilities: (approx. 15%)

  • Prepare and manage contractual agreements with partners (mainly based in Africa) and vendors. This includes preparing contractual budgets, payments, and monitoring  partner financial and narrative reporting.

 

Financial Report Preparation: (approx. 15%)

  • Prepare quarterly financial reports for multiple donors with different reporting requirements.

 

Other duties as required by Project Staff: (approx. 20%)

  • Oversee report/document preparation, publication review and printing process.
  • Organize and lead EPE monthly team meetings
  • Plan and organize workshops and conference logistics.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks (e.g., Lead Project Manager’s timesheets, basic travel assistance)
  • Support project staff in other administrative tasks as time permits.


Qualifications:

 

  • Successful applicants should have a bachelor’s degree;
  • Strong organizational and quantitative skills;
  • Prior budgeting experience must be demonstrated;
  • Fluency in French is required.

 

 Salary Range: $36K-40K, depending on experience-Includes comprehensive benefits package.
