Description

This project works in partnership with local people for the conservation of mangroves and to improve the living conditions of local communities by promoting alternative livelihoods. The NGO is currently working on several programs including village fish farming, apiculture, bio-energy plantations, environmental education, ecotourism, and the implementation of a community-based carbon credits program. The Project Coordinator will help coordinate the projects' multiple ongoing programs and supervise local staff and on occasions, visiting local and international students.

This project provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable management experience in a fascinating environment, with full support from a small dedicated local team.

Preferred starting date of mid-December, 2013 for a 12 month period (application deadline: 11th November, 2013).

The Project Coordinator receives free accommodation (peaceful spot at the edge of the mangroves) and food plus a stipend of 50 Euro per month. There is also access to a 4×4 for work purposes.

Please visit the Volunteer for Africa website or contact us via email for guidance on how to apply.
