Salary: £21,019.49 per annum

BTCV is the UK’s leading practical conservation charity working with people from all sectors of the community in positive action to improve the environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person with practical horticultural skills and experience in community volunteering to work with local volunteers delivering volunteering opportunities at our new community allotment. The position will involve completion of the initial site development, and subsequently recruiting and leading volunteer groups of varying ages, skills, and experience to maintain and develop the community allotment in accordance with BTCV’s health and safety procedures. You will maintain the project resources, including tools, materials and equipment, and will organise and deliver public open events. You will also be responsible for development of a community allotment network in accordance with the project outcomes. This will entail extensive outreach work to promote the project and engage groups interested in food growing; and supporting these groups to develop new sites by assisting with funding applications, providing practical advice, identifying training needs, and helping to establish sustainable practices.

You will have experience of planning and delivering horticultural projects, leading small groups and motivating volunteers, as well as good communication, time management and organisational skills.

Administrative responsibilities will include writing risk assessments, keeping daily records of activities and volunteers on our internal IT system, advertising forthcoming activities on our website, and updating the project website. You will also be expected to advise on and participate in writing funding applications for projects.

A full UK driving a Licence is essential

35 hours per week
