Description

The Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (www.atree.org) is fast emerging as one of South Asia's leading conservation organizations. ATREE seeks to address pressing environmental challenges through interdisciplinary research and active engagement with civil society and policy makers.

ATREE seeks to recruit a full time Project Assistant to join the ATREE-CEPF Regional Implementation Team for Western Ghats.

Qualifications
»  Master's degree in Environmental or Life sciences
»  Strong oral and written communication skills in English
»  Strong computers skills including MS Office, databases, and file management
»  Strong organizational skills
»  Good diplomatic skills in dealing with partners and grantees

Proficiency in a vernacular language, knowledge of environmental issues and familiarity with the Western Ghats Region will be added advantages.

This position requires a person with excellent communications and administrative skills, flexibility, and a positive attitude to manage the growing needs generated by an expanding program using grants to achieve conservation in the Western Ghats.

Responsibilities and duties
This position provides direct support to the Project Coordinator of the Western Ghats RIT Program to help ensure efficient grant making and grant management in full compliance with ATREE & CEPF policies.

Support the Coordinator in all aspects of grant making and management, from the planning and application phases through contracting, reporting and close-out of grants.

Maintaining accurate information in the projects and grants database, reviewing grantee reports, troubleshooting, reporting problems, processing disbursement requests and coordinating between grantees and RIT members on operational and financial issues.

Work closely with the CEPF RIT Coordinator and other major Team Members in the Western Ghats Program, in managing daily communication flow with grantees and the RIT team via email and telephone.

Processing, storage and retrieval of information from literature, internet, and media, including systematic record-keeping of files. Drafting official correspondence relating to routine RIT functions.
