The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun wishes to engage one Project Assistant (Technical) for its GEF-WB (IDA) Project on “Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihood Improvement” on purely temporary and contractual basis.
Essential Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in Forestry/Zoology/Botany/Wildlife Science in First Class.
Desirable Qualification: (i) Good working knowledge of computers (especially the Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point), (ii) Experience in dealing with scientific data and preparation of scientific reports/documentation.
Age: Not exceeding 35 years as on 30.11.2011.
Consolidate Emoluments: Rs. 16,000 per month.
Duration of Contractual Engagement: One year from the date of joining. Likely to be extended for further period(s) depending upon the requirement of the project and satisfactory performance.

About the Project: GEF-IDA project on “Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihoods Improvement Project (BCRLIP)” aims to enhance the conservation of globally significant biodiversity and ensure its long-term sustainability by promoting appropriate conservation practices in biodiversity-rich landscapes. Specifically the project aspires to develop and promote new models of conservation at the landscape scale through enhanced capacity and institution building for mainstreaming biodiversity conservation. The main components of the project are: (i) Demonstration of landscape conservation approaches at two pilot sites viz., Ascot and Little Rann of Kutchh in the states of Uttarakhand and Gujarat respectively, and (ii) Strengthening knowledge management and national capacity for landscape conservation. The WII is the implementing agency for the National Capacity Building Component of the Project.
The Project Assistant (Technical) will have to undertake the following tasks:

To compile and collate all the information available in WII and from other sources including the internet about the landscapes involved in the Project and developing bibliographies

To analyze and develop synthesis/review papers from the above information on current status of various aspects and issues in the landscape sites involved in the Project.

To assist the Project Coordinator and other members of the Project Management Unit in project implementation with special reference to search and provide required information on key themes, issues, status and future perspectives of various project sites.
