BACKGROUND

Come Outside! is a £1.1 million 3 year Programme managed by CCW and funded by Big Lottery Fund, CCW, Forestry Commission Wales and Welsh Government. The Programme will enable communities to get involved in outdoor activities which will make a positive and lasting impact on their lives.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Assist in the implementation of procedures which support the Project Team to develop and manage the Come Outside! Programme to achieve the aim and outcomes, meeting all deadlines, as set out in the Come Outside! Project Plan.
  • Undertake administration tasks which contribute to Programme delivery, monitoring and reporting and support the Project Team.
  • Undertake financial duties for example processing requisitions, ensuring orders are issued correctly and other financial housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of appropriate systems and records ensuring compliance with funding organisations’ and CCW’s policies and procedures.
  • Help organise meetings and events with external organisations to support the work of the Come Outside! Project Officers and provide accurate records of proceedings.
  • Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the Programme.
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others and comply with all health and safety legislation as appropriate.
  • Behave in accordance with our corporate values.
  • Consistently meet the standards required to fulfill the service expectations of your internal and external customers/citizens and partners.
  • Carry out other general duties as necessary.

JOB COMPETENCIES

To be considered for this post you will need to demonstrate the following competencies:

Essential

  1. The ability to work in an organised and accurate manner, to prioritise work and meet deadlines, whilst maintaining and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  2. Numerical skills and some understanding of financial processes.
  3. Good written and verbal skills
  4. Excellent computer literacy skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office packages, e-mail and the internet.
  5. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work on your own as well as being a member of a team.
  6. A positive attitude and a willingness to provide the best possible service to all customers, internal and external.
  7. The ability to demonstrate initiative and commitment.
    - The ability to currently and legally drive a car in the UK
  8. An awareness of Welsh culture, and a positive attitude to linguistic and cultural diversity.
    - Fluency in spoken Welsh (001033)
    - The ability to use basic Welsh conversational phrases (e.g. “bore da” – “good morning”) and to pronounce Welsh place names correctly (0001034).

Desirable

9. Knowledge of the community development sector in Wales
10. Knowledge of the environmental and outdoor activity sector in Wales
- Fluency in spoken Welsh (0001034)

SALARY

The starting salary will be £14,421.00 a year.

STATUS

This is a fixed-term, pensionable full-time appointment of 37 hours a week for three years.

A single Environment Body for Wales is expected to come into being on 1 April 2013. Staff who are employed by Countryside Council for Wales immediately before that date are likely to be transferred to the new body.
