Project Title, details of position and duration

Execution of Implementation Plan - Kailash Sacred Landscape Conservation and Development Initiative (KSLCDI).

 (02 – Project  Biologists and 01 – Project Sociologist )

 

Duration: Up to 31.12.2013 (likely to be extended)

Essential Qualification

Masters’ Degree in Zoology/Botany/Life Science/Wildlife Science/Forestry/Environ-mental Science/Social Sciences relevant to studies in human dimensions aspect of wildlife conservation with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification

Given below are the desirable qualification(s) for two Project Biologists (one each in fish and insect) and One Project Sociologist (remote sensing and human dimensions)

  • Candidates with strong physical and mental abilities. Having a keen desire to carryout arduous field work in the remote and rugged high altitudes of Uttarakhand Himalaya under extreme cold or rainy conditions with minimal logistic support. Demonstrate ability to work in the field under harsh conditions.
  • Demonstrate a passion for wildlife research and conservation.
  • Experience in basic wildlife field techniques (study design, sign surveys, line transects, sampling, camera trapping, etc.) and conversant with data analysis, ecological and statistical software.
  • Have relevant research experience and published research papers to his/ her credit.
  • Experience of participation in scientific conferences/workshops/meetings.
  • Field research experience relevant to fish/insects/remote sensing/wildlife science/ high altitude ecology/landscape approach to conservation/ social sciences relevant to human dimension of wildlife conservation.
  • Prior experience of working with communities/Park people interface and related aspects.

Description of Work

  • He/she will be responsible to carry out specific tasks/activities relevant to Project Components assigned to him/her and submit periodic reports on such tasks.
  • Field data collection, data analysis, synthesis, and report writing.
  • Assist Task Supervisors/ Project Coordinator/ Nodal officer in conduct of meetings, field training, workshops and conferences as envisaged in the project. 
  • Prepare scientific papers, reports and presentations and dissemination material / project related outreach activities.
  • Any other assignment by Project Authorities.

GENERALTERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Candidate(s) possessing Master’s Degree along with final year mark-sheet will only be eligible to appear for the walk-in-interview. Candidates appearing in the final year of Masters’ Degree Program will not be eligible to apply for the advertised positions.
  2. For the advertised position of Research Associate, candidate with a Ph.D. Degree will only be eligible to appear for the walk-in-interview.
  3. A candidate may be allowed to submit duly filled-in application form(s) for a maximum of two advertised positions subject to his/her fulfilling the essential qualifications for the advertised positions. Applications without enclosures and/or incomplete in any respect shall be rejected.  
  4. Age of the candidate shall not be more than 28 years for JRF/Project Biologist/Project Sociologist and 32 years for Senior Research Fellow as on Monday, 2nd December 2013. Upper age limit for SRF/JRF/Project Biologist/Project Sociologist may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped categories.
  5. Candidate for the position of Research Associate (RA) should be below 40 years of age as on Monday, 2nd December 2013 and the upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
  6. The fellowship amount for the selected Research Associate (RA-I) will be ` 22,000/- consolidated per month.
  7. Selected candidate(s) for the advertised position of Project Biologist/Sociologist will be paid a consolidated emolument of Rs. 12,000/- per month as fellowship.
  8. The fellowship amount for the selected Senior Research Fellow is Rs. 14,000/- consolidated per month and Rs. 18,000/- in case of NET qualified candidate(s) for Research Fellows (UGC/CSIR).
  9. Selected candidate(s) for the advertised position of JRF will be paid a consolidated emolument of Rs. 12,000/- per month as fellowship. In case of NET qualified candidates (UGC/CSIR) for Research Fellows, the selected JRF will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 16,000/- per month.
  10. Selected candidate(s) will be engaged initially for a period mentioned against each advertised position. Subsequently his/her tenure may be extended depending upon the exigencies of work at sole discretion of the Institute and satisfactory performance of the candidate.
  11. Candidate(s) may be allowed hostel accommodation at the institute, as per availability. Where the hostel accommodation is not possible, house rent allowance (HRA) will be paid as per the rules of the Institute. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules of the Institute, amended from time to time.
  12. The selection of the candidate(s) will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Friday, 6th December 2013 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registration for all advertised positions will be done from 09:00 to 10:00hrs.
  13. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
  14. Candidate(s) should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra-curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.
  15. One way travel expenses will be paid to the candidate, selected for the project. The expense will be limited to actual 2nd class rail/bus fare by the shortest route from his/her place of stay/residence.
  16. The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.
