Under the overall guidance of the Country Representative, IUCN India, and direct supervision of the Manager, Programme, Constituency and Administration, IUCN India, the Programme Officer will facilitate expansion of Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) profile of IUCN in India and work on matters relating to forest and other degraded landscapes and build in-house capacity of IUCN in this area. The incumbent will also contribute to the development and consolidation of the Programme of IUCN India and implementation of other projects for the Country Office.
JOB DESCRIPTION
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall guidance of the Country Representative, IUCN India, and direct supervision of the Manager, Programme, Constituency and Administration, IUCN India, the Programme Officer will facilitate expansion of Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) profile of IUCN in India and work on matters relating to forest and other degraded landscapes and build in-house capacity of IUCN in this area. The incumbent will also contribute to the development and consolidation of the Programme of IUCN India and implementation of other projects for the Country Office. SPECIFIC DUTIES The Programme Officer will support the Manager, Programme, Constituency and Administration in the implementation of forest and climate-change projects specifically supporting the management and implementation of the ‘Utilising Landscape Scale Forest Ecosystem Rehabilitation as a Cost Effective Bridge for the Integrated Deployment of National Land Based Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies’ project, as agreed upon between IUCN India and ARO (BMU7) under an Internal Agreement (IA). The specific duties include: • Manage the BMU7 Project in terms of developing and implementing the work plan, conducting research, reporting and managing the staff and consultants • Ensure that forest landscape restoration opportunities in the State of Uttarakhand are identified by following the Restoration Opportunities Assessment Methodology (ROAM) • Guide to conceive a range of forest restoration scenarios that satisfy most of the goals for restoration in Uttarakhand including a FLR MAP • Interact with the potential decision-makers and investors for the economic and financial viability of forest and landscape restoration in India • Coordinate field activities, organize workshops/meetings and monitor of progress and implementation of project activities • Ensure timely delivery of project progress and financial reports to reporting unit as well as donor • Implement other project(s) on forest and landscape restoration or climate change by use of latest knowledge and methodology • Support in developing and managing work plans and budget for Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) projects in India • Develop new proposals and projects for engaging, especially with the corporate sector to support Forest Landscape Restoration in India • Undertake donor intelligence, proposal writing, and interaction with donors to expand the portfolio of FLR in India • Carry out any other duties as per advice of the Line Manager and the Country Representative, IUCN India.This includes assisting line manager in implementation of other forestry related projects and providing support as may be required.
