We are looking for a technically competent, conscientious and motivated Programme Officer to join our Climate Change and Biodiversity (CCB) Programme on a 12 month fixed term basis. The Programme aims to provide authoritative information to support decision-making at the intersection of climate change and biodiversity conservation policies. The Programme’s work covers the impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem services of climate change and climate-related policy, and the role of ecosystems in climate change mitigation and adaptation.

This role provides the opportunity to make substantial contributions to implementing a portfolio of high profile projects that support effective decision making on biodiversity and climate change policy, with particular emphasis on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+), impacts of other forms of climate change mitigation (including biofuels), and ecosystem-based adaptation. Tasks may include, developing and implementing effective work plans, convening workshops and visiting partner countries to work on joint initiatives and contribute to capacity building. You will work alongside other colleagues and manage staff.

You will have experience of working at the science/policy interface in the field of climate change or biodiversity, as well as a good understanding of the intersection between climate change and biodiversity conservation issues and experience of implementing projects. You will have strong skills in analysis and critical review of scientific information, with strong communication skills and a willingness to build and maintain professional relationships. Good team-working is important as is the ability to prioritise and balance competing demands on time.

The programme, with its experienced, ambitious and results-oriented staff provides an excellent environment to further develop your project and people management and technical skills, and strengthen your expertise within this sector. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post within a group of like minded people working at the science-policy interface, and have the necessary skills and experience, we want to hear from you. Please complete our application form and send it together with your CV and a short covering letter using the link below by Friday 21st August 2015.

Please note that this is not a UN post.
