Programme Officer

Ecosystem Assessment Programme
Salary £25,000 - £31,000
Permanent

We are looking for a technically competent, conscientious and motivated Programme Officer for our Ecosystem Assessment Programme, who will thrive on the opportunity to participate within the international arena. The Programme produces high quality biodiversity indicators and provides support to international policy processes. Recent and current work includes the Biodiversity Indicators Partnership, UK National Ecosystem Assessment and the Performance Review and Assessment of Implementation System for the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.

This role provides the opportunity to contribute to a high profile portfolio of projects, including the possibility of supporting policy processes, convening partnerships and promoting institutional capacity development. Your work will raise the profile of the Centre to put knowledge at the heart of decision marking for multiple global and local stakeholders. This could be a fantastic career move to contribute to a global agenda within a role that will stretch and challenge you.

You will be given the opportunity to represent the Centre at relevant conferences and workshops, both within the UK and internationally and will gain job satisfaction through the successful delivery of important publications, reports and other information outputs.

In return, we can provide you with the chance to grow your technical skills, develop your project and line management skills and strengthen your expertise in indicators, assessment or capacity building. The programme staff are experienced, ambitious and results orientated providing an excellent environment to develop and contribute your own skills. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post within a group of like minded people working at the science-policy interface, we want to hear from you. Please complete our application form and send this with a CV and covering letter to recruitment@unep-wcmc.org by 30 April 2013.

You should note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.
