Description

We are seeking an organised, proactive and adaptable individual to join our Business and Biodiversity Programme as a Programme Officer, working closely with our Conserving Landscapes and Seascapes Programme. This role provides an exciting opportunity to provide technical leadership to an expanding portfolio of work under our agreement with the Norwegian Oil for Development programme.

This role will involve assisting a number of countries with mobilising and using biodiversity data for improved spatial planning and environmental management, with a focus on the oil and gas sector. You will therefore have demonstrated skills in spatial data analyses using GIS and familiarity with its application in the planning and regulation of industrial development. A large part of the role involves developing capacity of different stakeholders, managing relationships, and building partnerships and therefore effective communication skills will be essential.

You will have proven ability to produce high quality outputs, tailored to the intended audience, and to proactively work with partners to assess needs and identify solutions. You will enjoy working as part of a high performing team that links national level support to global level solutions and guidance. If you have a genuine interest in strengthening environmental management of development through improved access to information and the necessary qualifications and skills to achieve this, we want to hear from you

We will provide you with the opportunity to work on high impact projects, where your work really makes a difference to the field of conservation, working with both public and private sectors and at national and global scales. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can work at the interface between business and biodiversity, we want to hear from you. Please complete our application form and send it together with your CV and a short covering letter through the link below by 12th March 2020. Phone interviews are expected to take place on the 19th March with face to face interviews on the 26th or 27th March.

Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.
