Programme Officer – Social Assessment of Protected Areas

Protected Areas Programme

Salary £25,000 - £31,000

Fixed Term to December 2015

We are looking for a technically competent, conscientious and motivated Programme Officer to work in the Protected Areas Programme team at UNEP-WCMC and the main purpose of the job is to undertake project management, provide administrative organisational and technical support to the implementation of a range of protected area projects, but especially those which assess social impacts and other issues relevant to human dimensions of protected areas and conservation.

A key project within the Programme is the MAVA foundation-funded project on assessing the social vulnerability of communities living in and around protected areas inWest Africain the context of climate change, and other projects on social assessment of protected area management.

This role provides the opportunity to contribute to this and other high profile portfolio of projects, including the possibility of supporting policy processes, convening partnerships, convening workshops and visiting partner countries. This could be a fantastic career move to contribute to a global agenda within a role that will stretch and challenge you.

You will be given the opportunity to represent the Centre at relevant conferences and workshops, both within theUKand internationally and will gain job satisfaction through the successful delivery of important publications, reports and other information outputs.
