Description

The main function of this position is to implement TRAFFIC Southeast Asia’s programme of work to address key wildlife trade issues involving Singapore. Our goal is to ensure that TRAFFIC’s work has a positive impact on addressing wildlife trade concerns involving Singapore, primarily through the effective implementation of this project. The role will include involvement on project implementation, liaison with other staff and consultants, protocols for information collection and research methodology, data collection and analysis and enforcement assistance and communications in Singapore.  This includes engagement with all relevant partners including government and non-government agencies.

Other aspects (outside the scope of the project) of wildlife trade involving Singapore may emerge over time, and the Programme Officer is required to adapt and tackle these issues accordingly, in consultation with the TRAFFIC Southeast Asia team and in coordination with WWF-Singapore.

 

What you need:

 

  • Master’s Degree in relevant discipline or the equivalent in field and educational experience;
  • A minimum of three years practical experience in regional wildlife conservation efforts, preferably with an international non-governmental organization (NGO) or an inter-governmental organization (IGO), or related organisation or company;
  • Strong research and analytical skills, and an ability to articulate complex issues clearly;
  • Relevant and proven experience in project cycle management (i.e. co-ordinating larger projects, including overseeing consultants and managing project budgets and reporting);
  • Strong working knowledge of political and policy making processes in Southeast Asian countries;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team as well as independently, with respect for and sensitivity to multi-cultural approaches ;
  • Willingness to travel and work outside office environments, as required;
  • Strong communication skills with excellent fluency in spoken and written English & Mandarin or Cantonese.
