Description

Background:
Wildlife Trust of India is looking for a dynamic and motivated Programme officer/Asst. Manager to take forward its new initiatives on REDD+.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Will coordinate amongst a team of experts on biodiversity, socio-economy,  communications and legal and policy framework , prepare technical reports and will be responsible for day to day running of the project
  • Prepare Project Design Document (PDD) for REDD+
  • Assist in PDD verification
  • Deliver all outcomes and outputs as outlined in the project
  • Liaise with all stakeholders including the Government and funding organisations
  • Overall management of the project

Skills:

  • Good working knowledge in forestry/carbon/climate change/biodiversity/wildlife
  • Working knowledge on REDD+ mechanism
  • Good analysis and report writing skill
  • Good command in both written and spoken English.
  • Ability to multi-task and to create and work in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment

Qualifications:
Masters in Forestry/ Environment Science/Life Sciences/Botany/ Natural Resource management.  A doctorate degree in the subject will be of advantage.

Preferable experience:
Experience and knowledge on preparation of project documents for the carbon credits/REDD+ through community forestry initiatives, relevant standards, Carbon assessment methods in forestry projects and process of registration in Carbon markets are essential.
