Programme Officer- Environmental Economist Fixed Term Contract (12 months) Climate Change & Biodiversity Programme Salary Band £20,307 - £37,321
The United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) aims to put the best available biodiversity information in front of national, regional and global decision makers. The Centre is the result of a collaborative agreement between UNEP and WCMC, a UK Charity.
The role: The primary purpose of this position is to undertake policy-relevant work on the economics of ecosystem-based multiple benefits of REDD+, working with appropriate partners and delivering outputs for the UN-REDD Programme.
Key responsibilities: The post holder will contribute to the CCB Progamme's work for the UN-REDD Programme. They will undertake analytic work on the multiple benefits of REDD+ and contribute to the application of economic tools to support decision-making for multiple benefits from REDD+. The post holder will be involved in piloting a global tracking system on trends in multiple benefits from REDD+.
The candidate: The successful candidate will hold a Masters degree or equivalent in the relevant field, and have proven experience of application of environmental economics to policy. They will also have a sophisticated understanding of the essential characteristics of successful partnership-building and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively.
