Job Vacancy - Programme Officer (Business, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services)

Salary Band D £20,916 – £38,441

WCMC is a UK charity, based in Cambridge, which supports the United Nations Environment Programme. We work in collaboration with UNEP, under the banner of UNEP-WCMC. Our mission is to evaluate and highlight the many values of biodiversity and put authoritative biodiversity knowledge at the centre of decision-making. Since our establishment in the 1970s, the Centre has been at the forefront of the compilation, management, analysis and dissemination of global biodiversity information, and has an outstanding record of achievement.

WCMC are now seeking a Programme Officer to work with the Business, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BBES) programme.

 

The role

This role will work in close collaboration with other programmes at UNEP-WCMC to develop and implement new and existing projects focussed on supporting improved biodiversity management by business.

 

The responsibilities

As Programme Officer, you will support the programme in the design and implementation of biodiversity projects in the area of environmental risk assessment and mitigation, biodiversity and ecosystem service indicators and metrics, and environmental standards and certification schemes. Reporting to the Head of Programme, you will provide technical support on biodiversity and ecosystem services to our numerous partners.

 

The candidate

You will hold a postgraduate qualification in (MSc or higher) in ecology or a related discipline and will have relevant proven work experience in business and biodiversity. You will have a demonstrated ability to produce high quality outputs and will have experience of project proposal development and fundraising. Furthermore, you will have an understanding of the essential characteristics of successful partnership-building and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively.
