The Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BBES) programme supports the evolving field of business and biodiversity and manages a unique and successful partnership with the extractives industry, providing biodiversity information, data and resources to support the recognition of, and response to, biodiversity in industry development. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and technically experienced Programme Officer to join the Business and Biodiversity team and support UNEP-WCMC’s engagement with the private sector through the development and management of projects relating to biodiversity assessment and impact mitigation, biodiversity and ecosystems services indicators and metrics, environmental standards and the development of regulatory requirements for private sector biodiversity management. Working closely with Business and Biodiversity colleagues and other UNEP-WCMC programmes, you will be responsible for contributing to and managing multiple small to medium sized projects ensuring that the Centre’s expertise is effectively leveraged, delivery is aligned with the programme’s strategy and UNEP-WCMC’s mission, and projects are managed and delivered to the highest level of quality, on time and to budget. You will also support and potentially lead the development and funding of new projects ensuring you build good working relationships with partner organisations. You will be responsible for providing technical support to UNEP-WCMC’s business and industry association partners, as well as our other UN partners focusing on business, so a strong contemporary understanding of biodiversity and ecosystem services, experience of working with the private sector and strong communication skills are essential. We will provide you with the chance to grow your strategic awareness, project management and technical skills within an engaging team environment, spanning the various biodiversity disciplines represented in UNEP-WCMC and linking this to the field of business and biodiversity. The Centre staff are experienced, ambitious and results-orientated, providing an excellent environment to develop and contribute your own skills. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions. If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with technical expertise, project development and project management skills, we want to hear from you. Please complete a WCMC application form and submit it with a CV and a short covering letter through the link below. Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK. |
