Are you a passionate, highly-motivated and dynamic individual with excellent leadership skills and relevant experience of working in nature conservation? We are looking for someone with special qualities to lead a UK-wide programme of nature conservation work to halt and reverse the decline of the curlew, one of the UK's highest conservation priority bird species. The once widespread curlew is in big trouble and we need someone to help us help this remarkable bird.

You will lead the five-year programme from the front, support colleagues leading on the delivery of trial management work, including letting/managing land management contracts on six sites (across the UK) and be personally responsible for delivering the other core parts of the programme, including hosting demonstration days, developing best practice management advice for land managers and promoting the programme.

You will be quick to learn, a clear thinker, well organised, tenacious and possess good people skills with relevant experience of working in nature conservation (especially with land managers) and proven experience of budget management, report writing, working to deadlines and partnership working. You will use your excellent communication skills and experience to promote the programme through attending meetings and conferences and to build strong relationships with statutory nature conservation bodies.

As programme manager, you will support colleagues working in the trial management sites and in other parts of the organisation - this will entail travel (across the UK) with associated overnight stays.
