Terms of Reference: CPF Programme Coordinator

(Based in either the Dominican Republic or Haiti)

The Cafédirect Producers’ Foundation (CPF) is a UK-based organization, established in 2009 to support smallholder tea, coffee and cocoa producer organisations provide education, information and training programmes to smallholder growers and their communities in Latin America, Africa and Asia.  We are young organisation with drive and ambition. We are now looking for Haiti/Dominican Republic-based Programme Coordinator to join our team, focusing particularly on coordinating a new project working with smallholder coffee producers in Haiti and the Dominican Republic on coffee quality improvement.

Candidate Brief:

 Job title: CPF Programme Coordinator

 Reporting to: CPF Programme Manager, London, UK

 Location:  Dominican Republic (preferably) – or Haiti

 Salary range: $20,500USD / year plus local benefits package

 Length of contract: Full-time contract for 12 months, with potential for renewal

 Start Date for Position: Immediately

 Key Tasks Will Include:

  • Working with smallholder producers in Haiti and the Dominican Republic to plan and deliver the coffee quality improvement project (~75% of time). Activities will include:
    • Coordinating with the staff of producer cooperatives, and their primary societies
    • Organising training workshops with smallholders
    • Working with smallholders and existing extension staff to identify, document and implement innovative agricultural practices
  • Communicating with and sharing information between CPF’s network of smallholder producer organisations across Latin America.
  • Participate in a weekly phone/Skype meeting with CPF staff in London.
  • Facilitate, where necessary, travel arrangements of CPF staff to producer organizations

The selected candidate will have the following skills:

Essential:  (Please ONLY APPLY for the role if you have ALL of the following essential skills)

  • An innovative thinker, with enthusiasm and passion, who is able to take initiative.
  • Excellent skills in Spanish, English and, either Haitian Creole or French
  • Experience working with smallholder farmers and/ or community-based organisations
  • Experience working in Latin America, ideally Haiti and/or the Dominican Republic
  • Willingness to work and travel independently, and spend  significant  time working on location

Desirable

  • Ability to facilitate training sessions with smallholder farmers
  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant area (Development Studies, Economics, Community Development etc)
