Description

Programme Coordinator - DFID/FCO joint initiative on climate change and forestry in Indonesia

FCO is recruiting a highly experienced Programme Coordinator for the DFID/FCO joint initiative on climate change and forestry in Indonesia. The post is for 2.5 years (October 2007 – March 2010), based in Jakarta. See Full Terms of Reference online.

The UK government has a comparative advantage in forest governance in Indonesia through its successful DFID Multistakeholder Forestry Programme and related FCO political support. The UK is now moving ahead with further support to consolidate gains in forest governance reforms and meet the needs of the new climate change agenda. The two main strands of UK’s support are the Forest Governance and Trade Programme, and support to Reducing Emissions from Deforestation.

Duties will be to provide strategic direction; advise on and monitor a portfolio of civil society and government partnerships; provide advice, representation, co-ordination and oversight of joint-donor work on climate change and forestry; maintain contacts, build influence and ensure effective relationships across the Government of Indonesia and with donors.

This is a broad ranging post requiring an adviser and manager who has experience of delivering in a range of complex environments based on at least 10-years’ relevant professional experience and achievement in environmental governance, working across several thematic areas including civil society support, governance reform, livelihoods and rural growth, and the new agenda on climate change and forestry.

The deadline for applications is Monday 13th August 2007 with interviews planned for end of August/beginning of September.
