OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:

To help build and capitalize on Greenpeace's "Reputation Capital" in India. There are 4 pillars to this:

  1. Visibility -People recognize Greenpeace and identify it with the work we do and how we do it.
  2. Influence- There is a scale and ambition associated with our campaigns that is able to engage and mobilize people across social class and geography.
  3. Opportunity -Identify and capitalize on the external tends and media and political opportunities to amplify Greenpeace campaigns and environmental values.
  4. Integration-Create organizational systems and structures to facilitate optimal integration of departments/ global Greenpeace to leverage external opportunities 

Main responsibilities

Strategic direction

Advise, as a member of the Senior Management Team, on the formulation and execution of the strategic direction of Greenpeace, in order to contribute to the realisation of the overall objective of Greenpeace India in an integrative manner.

Management

Lead, motivate, and manage the Public Engagement, New Media, Media and Communications units, and ensure the effective capacity and performance of these units through staff coaching, development training and performance reviews, in order to enable the achievement of the objectives of the global campaign program.

Internal Budgeting

Ensure allocation of the program budget is consistent with agreed program priorities, ensure effective management of the resources, as well as ensure that the budgets for the Public Engagement, New Media, Media and Communications units are in line with the Greenpeace priorities in these area's, in cooperation with the SMT.

 

Skills required / qualifications

Required:

Ø Five-ten years management experience, including at a senior level

Ø International campaign and organizational experience

Ø Campaign leadership experience

Ø Experience of all aspects of the campaign mix: strategy formulation, campaign design, communications, political and business strategy and implementation, and policy formulation and research

Ø Negotiation skills

Ø Crisis management, clear decision-making ability
