The Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) will utilize the global influence of President Clinton and the skills that the Foundation has developed in worldwide mobilization to help initiate programs that directly result in substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. In its first phase, CCI is working with a group of 40 of the largest cities in the world (www.c40cities.org) to develop and implement a range of projects and programs to increase energy efficiency in buildings and generate cleaner energy. Specific actions will include provision of technical assistance and working with our purchasing alliance to accelerate the evolution of markets for energy efficiency and alternative energy products.

Description

The Program Manager for Chicago will provide support to the City Director in working with the political and administrative leadership of Chicago to develop and implement programs that reduce energy use, use cleaner energy, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In particular, CCI Chicago will be focused on the Energy Efficiency Building Retrofit Program (EEBRP), CCI's first major climate change program, which works with public and private building owners to promote the wide-scale adoption of scalable business models for energy efficiency projects in existing buildings. In the near term, the EEBRP will be assisting public and private-sector building owners to launch large-scale building efficiency projects to reduce the carbon footprint of existing buildings. In addition to building up the EEBRP in Chicago, the Program Manager will help support any other aims established by the City Director and local stakeholders to counter climate change in ways that are practical and effective. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial and collaborative, possessing high passion, drive, and uncompromising integrity.

The Program Manager supports the overall city program by being responsible for the following:

  • Assisting in the development, project management and implementation of work plans for specific projects which will tangibly result in greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
  • Identifying hurdles to taking action on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and continually refining priorities and action steps to overcome those hurdles.
  • Developing trust and strong relationships with CCI's partners locally to identify and approach government, institutional, and private building owners to educate them about the EEBRP, removing project barriers and facilitating project action.
  • Helping to establish the appropriate processes and tools for planning, budgeting, reporting, and monitoring progress.
  • Maintaining and strengthening the reputation of the Foundation as a highly capable organization, whose agenda is primarily to partner with government and assist with its most pressing needs in climate change mitigation.

We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
