The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America’s #1 conservation service organization seeks a Program Manager for their DC youth programs in our Arlington VA office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and deliver outdoor conservation youth programs in concert with partner organizations; within the DC/Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Recruit and place youth and young adults in a variety of programs each year; approximately 80-100 youth for both school-year and summer programs
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with agency, nonprofit and municipal partners in region.
  • Manage gear cache, tools and equipment including inventory, fixing and purchasing gear and equipment as needed and assuring orderly and proper storage.
  • Plan and deliver staff training for crew leaders and youth as needed
  • Perform administrative duties including crew leader and member hiring paperwork, incident reports, and crew leader evaluation.
  • Field emergency/non-emergency calls during business and non-business hours

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience including skills related to the position such as program management, leadership in an outdoor setting and experience working with programmatic partners; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships
  • Community organizing skills and strong capacity to work in a team
  • Experience with process oversight; keeping momentum moving and following through on multiple points for multiple people
  • Strong MSWord skills and strong working knowledge of databases
  • Current CPR certification and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain
  • Valid driver’s license with MVR that meets SCA standards.
  • Must pass SCA criminal background check
  • Willingness to travel 20% of time to conduct site visits, attend partner functions, etc
  • Must have access to cell phone for business purposes
