How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Partners in Project Green, the Program Manager, Water Stewardship will deliver Partners in Project Green programming that aims to help businesses in  the Industrial Commercial Institutional (ICI) sector capitalize on the social, environmental and financial benefits of water and wastewater conservation. This position plays an integral role in advancing TRCA, municipal and provincial  goals of climate change, sustainability, and green economy by advancing uptake of innovative technologies and business to business synergies in the employment lands of TRCA’s watersheds. Primary responsibilities include working with business and government leaders to implement large-scale collective projects, leading corporate water stewardship programs, conducting strategic research projects, assessing program performance, supervising staff, managing financial resources, implementing online marketing strategies, and developing strategic relationships to help TRCA reach its objectives.
Partners in Project Green is an initiative focused on creating the largest eco-business zone in the world; a vast community comprised of businesses, government, institutions and utilities striving to strengthen and green Toronto Region's economy. Through new forms of collaboration, Partners in Project Green helps businesses reduce resource use and costs, and uncover new business opportunities. The program is managed by Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) with funding support from Toronto Pearson International Airport and TRCA partner municipalities.

Major Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver programs for large- and small-scale business clients.
• Design program recruitment strategy and recruit participants by leveraging existing network, marketing channels and networking opportunities.
• Nurture client relationships by staying in touch, keeping abreast of client needs, and creating value where possible.
• Provide technical advice to clients and facilitate the implementation of low impact development and industrial water reuse opportunities by staying well-informed of industry trends, helping clients coordinate consultant and supplier site visits, digesting proposals, building project business cases, and easing access to external project funding.
• Monitor and administer the capital budget related to the section and provide expenditure updates to the Senior Manager.
• Hire and supervise staff, interns and volunteers.
• Assess and manage staff performance through frequent touch points and by leading work plan reviews.
• Oversee development of annual work plans, performance evaluations and professional development plans for both full-time and contract staff.
• Seek new funding opportunities such as research contracts, fees for service, sponsorship and grants.
• Deliver strategic research assignments for clients involving primary research, secondary research and industry analysis.

What you will need to succeed: 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, environmental studies or a related technical discipline.
• Water Resources/ Technology Certification or equivalent. 
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in business or the government sector; and Five (5) years experience at a senior level in progressively more challenging positions.
• Familiarity with water footprint methodologies and water sustainability concepts.
• Established professional network in the provincial/regional water stewardship policy space.
• Demonstrated experience in performance management reporting, budget management, and track record of successful implementation of projects and events.
• Knowledge of Provincial and Federal climate change programs and policies.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and experience managing diverse clients.
• Self-motivated and highly organized with a demonstrated strong commitment for the delivery of high-quality customer service under tight deadlines.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Project management skills.
• Excellent communication skills in all modes.
• Presentation creation and delivery.
• Relationship management.
• Computer literate and familiar with project management reporting and software programs.
• Market research skills.
• Strong business development, influence, and political acuity.
