ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 

Provides overall direction/leadership for all activities related to finance, business planning, administration, personnel (including workforce planning), facilities, information systems and team management for the Global Conservation Initiatives team. S/he provides leadership and direction for development and implementation of annual budgets and manages the processes for annual business planning, submission of periodic and annual financial and technical reports and monitoring progress on team objectives and goals.  S/he leads the development of operational guidelines to ensure efficient management of the program and compliance with regulations.  S/he oversees the coordination of trainings/meetings and documents activities, strategies and lessons learned as appropriate.  The Program Manager provides assistance to all levels of management and staff on various HR-related issues and guidance to subordinates in satisfying administrative requirements and adherence to TNC’s Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.   S/he provides leadership and guidance on issues related to management, coordination and communications across the Global Conservation Initiatives team to maximize team effectiveness.  The Program Manager manages a multidisciplinary team of professional and support staff.  Duties are highly confidential and require broad and comprehensive knowledge of TNC’s policies and the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and external actors.  The Program Manager, Global Conservation Initiatives reports to the Executive Vice President, Conservation Initiatives.
 

 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience overseeing all activities related to finance, administration, personnel, facilities, information systems, and general management for a business unit, department, or equivalent.
  • Experience in designing, implementing and directing multiple projects with business unit- or department-wide scope.
  • Experience managing a multi-disciplinary team of administrative and professional staff. 
  • Experience developing and administering departmental budget, including experience in financial analysis.
  • Experience manipulating, analyzing and/or interpreting financial or other data.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 7 - 10 years related experience or equivalent combination.  Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Successful experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects and implementing strategic program goals.
  • Supervisory experience, including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, and manage performance, including conflict resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of TNC business planning, workforce planning and budgeting processes required.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership experience required.
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.
  • Working knowledge of current trends in conservation finance desirable.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to changing situations and priorities.
  • Service oriented.  Courteous, personable, politically savvy, tactful and experienced dealing effectively and sensitively with all levels of staff and public
