Plan International Australia (PIA) is one of the oldest and largest children’s development organisations in the world, working with communities in 50 developing countries. Plan unites, empowers and inspires people around the globe to champion children’s rights.

This is an opportunity for a highly competent climate change adaption professional to work within a passionate, supportive and values based organization. Reporting to the Disaster Risk & Resilience (DR&R) Manager, you will work across local and international stakeholders managing our Climate Change Portfolio. You will also be joining your PIA colleagues and DR&R team during the launch of our new PIA strategy.

Key accountabilities

Over this 1 year contract you will have the opportunity to lead PIA’s Climate Change Adaption portfolio from providing technical support and advice to our Country Offices to developing funding proposal, capacity building and external stakeholder engagement. You will represent PIA across key forums (DFAT, Plan International Federation ACFID etc.).

Our ideal candidate will also have:

  • Post-graduate qualification in a related climate change or related field
  • Strong engagement, communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships
  • A demonstrated understanding of climate change, development issues and gender equality
  • A good knowledge of climate change donors and grant acquisition skills (including report and proposal writing)
  • Core Competencies that relate to this level 4 and an alignment to PIA’s values
  • Demonstrated ability to gain traction and deliver over the 1 year contract
