The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America’s #1 conservation service organization seeks three Program Coordinators located in Oakland, CA, Seattle, WA & Arlington, VA to oversee and coordinate crew leader recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation in thier region.  This position will support, implement, instruct and manage elements of yearly Crew Leader trainings and work skills. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees SCA supervised crew-based activity for designated region and the implementation of SCA safety standards and quality
  • Support local student recruiting efforts and site specific logistical needs
  • Coordinate volunteers, interns and office assistants (as needed) on projects specific to crew needs
  • Work with partners to coordinate successful implementation of program
  • Visit and provide on-the-ground logistical support to crews and agencies in the field as needed
  • Support opportunities for collaboration and cooperation between HS Crews and Community Programs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred
  • 5+  years of progressively responsible experience including skills related to the position such as leadership in an outdoor setting and experience working with programmatic partners specific to conservation work skills required
  • Team leadership and supervisory experience required
  • Knowledge of programming and youth leadership required
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of MSOffice products and experience with databases required
  • Proven project management skills, ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Valid driver’s license with MVR that meets SCA’s motor vehicle standards required.
  • Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification required.
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 25% of work time) required
  • Access to mobile phone for work purposes required
