The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America’s #1 conservation service organization seeks a Program Coordinator located in Arlington, VA to oversee and coordinate crew leader recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation for the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast, Midwest, & Northeast region.  This position will support, implement, instruct and manage elements of yearly Crew Leader trainings and work skills. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees SCA supervised crew-based activity for designated region and the implementation of SCA safety standards and quality
  • Support local student recruiting efforts and site specific logistical needs
  • Coordinate volunteers, interns and office assistants (as needed) on projects specific to crew needs
  • Work with partners to coordinate successful implementation of program
  • Visit and provide on-the-ground logistical support to crews and agencies in the field as needed
  • Support opportunities for collaboration and cooperation between HS Crews and Community Programs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred
  • 5+  years of progressively responsible experience including skills related to the position such as leadership in an outdoor setting and experience working with programmatic partners specific to conservation work skills required
  • Team leadership and supervisory experience required
  • Knowledge of programming and youth leadership required
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of MSOffice products and experience with databases required
  • Proven project management skills, ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Valid driver’s license with MVR that meets SCA’s motor vehicle standards required.
  • Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification required.
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 25% of work time) required
  • Access to mobile phone for work purposes required
