The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America’s #1 conservation service organization seeks a Program Coordinator located in Anchorage, Alaska.  Be the first on-the-ground full-time SCA program staff member in Alaska!  Work closely with Regional Partnership Coordinator to build SCA’s presence in the state.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee recruitment of local and Native Alaskan youth for the SCA’s high school crews in the state of Alaska (approximately 15 crews)
  • Assist with crew leader hiring, placement and supervision with the Regional Program Director
  • Operate and maintain equipment for programming
  • Visit and provide on-the-ground logistical support to crews and SCA agency partners as needed.
  • Prepare sites for future crews, conduct field visits and Field Safety Reviews as directed
  • Serve as lead program liaison for other SCA programming in Alaska as directed

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years successful program/project oversight experience; ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated proficiency in youth recruitment; experience with Alaskan youth highly preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in outdoor living skills and conservation work skills
  • Knowledge and experience with SCA programming a plus
  • Ability to maintain and improve gear, equipment and tools necessary
  • Proven skill in developing and maintaining partner relationships
  • Willingness to travel 25 to 50% throughout the state
  • Willingness to serve as on-call incident responder
  • Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification required
  • Chainsaw, crosscut, LNT trainer or other relevant certifications highly desired
  • Must have valid driver’s license and MVR that meets SCA standards
  • Must pass SCA criminal background check
