LOCATION: Washington, DC
DEPARTMENT: Conservation Programs, Trash Free Seas
REPORTS TO: Associate Director, International Coastal Cleanup
DURATION: Full-time

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM:
Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas program is focused on eliminating trash from the ocean because trash is one of the greatest threats to ocean health. Leveraging the 26 years of expertise, networks and global movement created through our International Coastal Cleanup—the world’s largest volunteer effort for the ocean—Ocean Conservancy is now pursuing upstream solutions to eliminate trash from our water planet. We are focused on strengthening the science and building public support and strong networks around the world to advance comprehensive and collaborative actions to stop trash at the source. A core part of our work is to leverage the value of data collected during our International Coastal Cleanup event—the only state-by-state, country-by-country index of marine debris in the world. The Trash Free Seas program is also exploring ways to compile year-round data sources to shine a spotlight on the need to address the most common items found in the ocean, on beaches and along waterways.

The Coordinator also works closely with Ocean Conservancy’s team of marine scientists and communicators to develop compelling narratives to build public support for ocean trash solutions.
