The World Resources Institute’s People and Ecosystems Program (PEP) is seeking a program coordinator for its Forest Landscape Initiative to support sustainable forest management projects in Central Africa.  The program coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Central Africa Program Manager in managing time, quality and budget parameters, facilitating fundraising and outreach efforts, and assisting in writing, research and proofreading. Other duties will include working on specific project tasks, filing, managing contracts and sub-agreements, reviewing and editing reports, and tracking project financials.

Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain contract agreements with partners, including overseeing reporting requirements and follow-up needs to complete agreements on time;
  • Submit and track requests for payment in a timely manner;
  • Assist Central Africa Manager and other project staff to update their budgets quarterly and to create budgets for upcoming proposals;
  • Assist project CA Manager and other project staff in writing, research, and proofreading;
  • Assist projects in managing schedules, arranging meetings and other administrative tasks, including faxing, photocopying, mailing, and filing;
  • Maintain project databases, mailing lists, and other files;
  • Manage and process travel and visa documents;
  • Maintain and update the project website pages;
  • Respond to specific web-based and literature research requests as needed;
  • Assist in fundraising tasks, including donor relationships and proposal writing;
  • Review and provide comments on draft documents, proposals, publications, etc;
  • Write articles and design web pages and other outreach information/materials on PEP’s Central Africa activities and projects;
  • Travel to Central Africa in support of project activities, when necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in French - including the ability to manage relationships in French by phone
  • A minimum of 1 year administrative work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, required
  • The position requires a detail-oriented, highly organized individual with some experience in financial management and budgeting
  • Must be adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and have the ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong writing, database management and proofreading skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work well in a team
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Raiser’s Edge experience preferable)
  • Experience working with USAID grants and/or other bilateral/multilateral grants a plus
  • Website maintenance experience a plus
  • Interest or training in environmental policy, international development and/or natural resource management a plus
