Program Coordinator - Pollution Prevention/Zero Waste Team

Location: Santa Cruz, CA

Description: Ecology Action, a California-based non-profit, is a leading provider of innovative marketing and engagement programs that overcome barriers to reducing energy use and achieving environmental sustainability.

We are looking for an environmentally passionate candidate to fill the position of temporary part- time program coordinator on our Pollution prevention/Zero Waste (P2) Team. This role will assist with the implementation of our Prop 84 Stormwater Planning & Monitoring grant, the Monterey Bay Low Impact Development (LID) Planning and Incentives Program. This position will perform a variety of skilled administrative as well as education and outreach duties related to program management and completion of grant deliverables. The program and position will be effective from November 15, 2013 through September 2014 and is subject to continued funding.
Duties: • Communicate professionally with stakeholder advisory committee members from pubic agencies and non-profit organizations
• Coordinate and conduct presentations at stakeholder advisory committee meetings
• Survey private and public property owners to assess LID awareness and readiness to participate in the grant-funded LID bioretention design program
• Obtain letters of commitment from property owners to conduct LID site assessments
• Work responsively with participating property owners to answer questions related to LID design program and post-construction requirements
• Work with the senior program specialist and stakeholder advisory committee members to develop and implement an ecological landscape recognition program
• Assist the senior program specialist to coordinate contractor training and evaluation activities relating to indoor, non-potable rainwater harvesting systems
• Develop and conduct pre- and post-training training surveys to measure training impact
• Write detailed evaluations of meetings and training events to be included in grant progress reports
Qualifications: • Five or more years of practical and professional experience in the ecological landscape industry.
• Candidate must have oral and written communication skills as well as professional presentation skills
• Excellent coordination and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Two or more years of project management experience
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with Window operating system (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint programs) required
• College degree in environmental sciences or directly related equivalent experience preferred

Desired qualifications:
• Professional affiliations within the green building/contractor community
• Working knowledge of GIS systems
• Knowledge of Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board Post-Construction requirements for stormwater management
• Knowledge of California Uniform Plumbing Code requirements relating to non-potable rainwater catchment systems
• One or more years experience conducting program evaluation
2-4 years general office experience
