Description

Job Title: Program Assistant, Our Wild America

Department: Conservation / San Francisco, CA

Reports To: Associate Director, Our Wild America

Context: Provides general administrative and programmatic support for the Our Wild America campaign, including the Senior Director and Associate Director.

Scope: The Program Assistant works directly with the Associate Director and Senior Director to support the effective daily operations of the Our Wild America campaign, including providing general support to the Leadership Team and initiative Delivery Teams, interacting with volunteers, partners and the general public, providing administrative support for the campaign including documentation and record-keeping, as well as leading occasional event planning.

Job Activities:

  1. Coordinates regular record-keeping and organization of internal campaign documents, policies and procedures (primarily cloud-based including Google Docs and Google Sites), as well as maintenance of campaign listserves and other internal communications systems
  2. Provides administrative support for the campaign, including receiving and processing reimbursement requests, purchasing supplies, and developing contracts with outside vendors
  3. Provides general support for campaign committees, including, but not limited to, the Leadership Team and initiative Delivery Teams. Includes coordinating calls and meetings, crafting agendas, note-taking, and following through on action items. 
  4. Provides logistical and administrative support for campaign staff nationally, including but not limited to meeting logistics, expense reporting, calendar management, and travel arrangements.
  5. Performs research on special projects and compiles reports and presentations, as directed by the Associate Director. May require coordination with senior staff and volunteer leaders throughout the Club.
  6. Coordinates incoming inquiries and requests to the campaign, directing them to the appropriate staff members.
  7. Drafts surveys, correspondence, memos, and briefing materials.
  8. Plans and coordinates occasional special events.
  9. Performs various Conservation Operations duties as needed.
  10. Performs miscellaneous duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills:

-- Demonstrated commitment to environmental protection.

-- Excellent writing and editing skills.  Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedback.

-- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work effectively in fast-paced office environment.

-- At least 1-2 years experience working in a comparable administrative or program assistant role.

-- Ability to interact cooperatively and effectively with staff, volunteers and the public.

-- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Google Docs, as well as a quick learner of new applications and programs. Experience creating Google Sites a plus. 

 

This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Sierra Employee Alliance.
