The Utility Sales Manager is responsible for managing and developing all customer relationships in the assigned territory. This role sells Suntech’s products and maintains relationships with existing and potential longer sales cycle accounts in the Utility sector. It includes expanding and developing accounts as well as providing customer service. The Utility Sales Manager grows market penetration for Suntech within the assigned territory. Types of customers include utilities; independent power producers; small contractors; large Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors; other developers and consulting engineers.

 

Essential Job Functions
  • Build strong relationships and work as a team member with Suntech Sales and Management to achieve the sales and marketing goals of the organization.
  • Work closely with other departments including Technical Sales, Credit and collections, Legal, and Accounting.
  • Develop and manage Suntech’s customer relationships as a field-based sales manager.
  • Penetrate the various utilities, renewable energy developers, and independent power providers (IPP’s), EPC contractors, consulting engineers and industry manufacturers to increase Suntech’s utility sales.
  • Identify targeted organizations, network, and establish relationships with the key players and key decision makers.
  • Participate in “team selling” concept with others on the Utility Sales Team.
  • Develop and implement a marketing strategy to achieve regional goals and mirror the overall corporate strategy.
  • Maintain and constantly improve a working knowledge of Suntech’s products and PV system know-how in order to position Suntech as a leader in the market.
  • Produce proposals and develop strategies for Request for Proposal (RFP) responses.
  • Update and maintain all customer and pipeline information in the company CRM system.
  • Prepare sales forecasts and other reports.
  • Provide post-sales support as necessary.
  • Skills and Abilities
  • Deep knowledge of the solar industry and its relationship to the electrical Utility sector
  • Knowledge of selling capital equipment to industrial and utility customers
  • An understanding of PV markets and renewable energy development in the U.S.
  • Ability to work well and effectively with all levels of management and staff in a team mode
