SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Product Manager is in charge of driving Inverter product requirements and releases to achieve market success in line with the company’s growth and profitability objectives. Role will also provide product support capabilities to Sales in North America for the residential, commercial and utility-scale market segments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-      Product Requirements & Planning:

  • o   Be the “product guru” in assigned market segment
  • o   Defines new products based on market requirements
  • o   Help identify and communicate specific product and/or service gaps that are not currently met by current offerings
  • o   Support Sales in client’s technical discussion via phone or in person
  • o   Define and manage release milestones
  • o   Makes strategic recommendations during product planning stages
  • o   Defines and approves pricing for new products
  • o   Defines costs for custom and new product proposals for target market
  • o   Assessment of the suitability of new technologies and their deployment in future product implementation
  • o   Interface with Engineering to track and ensure on-schedule product deployment.
  • o   Act as “gate keeper” on the product launch process and manage pre-launch product check lists
  • o   Support product documentation preparation (data-sheet, manual, PPT presentation, user and configuration software, ads)
  • o   Managing a network and selection of suppliers and sub-suppliers where required

-      Market and Competitive Analysis:

  • o   Benchmarking of competition’s products.
  • o   Assessment of new product products TAM and SAM
  • o   Definition of product specification and ROI assessment
  • o   Identify market problems & requirements
  • o   Perform win/loss analysis
  • o   Pricing, margin and P&L tracking
  • o   Definition of the schedule of new products and modified existing products
  • o   Management of product country specific versions
  • o   Performs primary market research and competitive analysis, and utilizes secondary research to define market requirements

 

-      Interface with internal and external stakeholders:

  • o   Customers
  • o   Marketing and sales
  • o   Collaboration with other groups for requirements gathering and deployment of new products / services

                                                                                                        

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Director of Product Management. Will have high level of interaction with other departments including Product Development, Sales, Marketing, Services and Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • o   Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
  • o   In-depth knowledge of the North America PV market
  • o   Minimum 3 years of PV systems engineering and design experience
  • o   Knowledge of photovoltaic and/or power conversion technology highly desirable
  • o   NABCEP certified, good understanding of NEC codes; PE license a plus
  • o   Experience in project business, RFP response, and project management is required
  • o   Strong analytical skills to decompose problems clearly and identify viable solutions taking schedule, cost and degree of risk into consideration
  • o   Organized work habits with a record of successful delivery of complex projects as an individual contributor and a team leader
  • o   Demonstrated leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • o   Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • o   MBA is a strong plus
