Reporting to the Product Integrity Manager, the Product Integrity Officer (PIO) has a key role in contributing to the Product Integrity Team within the Standards department. The team is responsible for the development and credibility of the MSC’s chain of custody (COC) programme, including the implementation and evaluation of key policies and procedures, and the PIO plays a key role in supporting this work. The MSC’s COC programme is about ensuring that MSC labelled products are from an MSC certified fishery. This is done through third party certification of the companies in the supply chain to the MSC’s chain of custody (COC) Standard. The COC Standard is based on the principles of identification, traceability, segregation and management systems. The team is responsible for training and advising certification bodies on these Standards and reviewing and revising them as appropriate. The team also carries out validation of the programme through organising DNA tests on MSC labelled consumer products and through tracing back records from the consumer product to the fishery. There are a variety of project which the team is responsible for including projects to increase the accessibility of the programme and projects to ensuring robustness and consistency across the programme. The PIO will work closely within the Product Integrity Team, supporting the implementation of various projects, including tracking current matters related to supply chain assurance, flagging likely future issues, helping to ensure program requirement compatibility with supply chain company business operations, and monitoring compliance. The post holder will be involved in projects such as the monitoring and evaluation work and the validation of supply chains through DNA testing and trace backs. Required skills and experienceThe PIO will also support the monitoring of developments in local, national and international standards for traceability and supply chain tracking. The post holder will have strong communication, commercial, and technical skills, combined with an understanding of supply chain management and tracking.
